Céline Hubert, dite CELHUB est née en 1973. Après un DEUG de sociologie, change de voie et s’inscrit aux Beaux-Arts de Perpignan. Suite à ses deux années à l’école des Beaux-Arts, Celhub obtient une licence d’Arts Plastiques à l’Université de Toulouse le Mirail.
A mi-chemin entre l’art onirique et l’illustration, Celhub explore les concepts de profusion, débordements en créant des personnages évoluant dans un milieu foisonnant d’animaux, de faune, et de flore, déformés, imaginaires ou réels.
Le monde végétal et animal subit les conséquences de l’activité humaine, les plantes hybrides et les insectes mutants qu’elle imagine en sont l’illustration.
Chaque détail s’immisce dans la masse colorée et surgit du cadre comme pour surprendre l’observateur qui s’approcherait. La peinture s’anime d’une seconde vie.
Devant une toile de Celhub il faut s’approcher, se reculer, faire différentes mises au point , et, se munir d’une longue vue afin de se laisser emporter, porter par cet univers surprenant, fantasque. Cette artiste peint dans un style coloré et graphique. Un style simplifié, inspiré de la BD, de la science-fiction, des dessins d’enfants, de la culture populaire et de la musique rock. Céline Hubert was born in 1973. Graduating with a degree in sociology , Celine aka Celhub had a change of heart , and instead attended an art school in Perpignan , France. Two years later, she obtained a degree in Plastic Arts at the University of Toulouse. Halfway between dreamlike art and illustration, Celhub explores the concepts of profusion, overflowing by creating characters evolving in an environment full of animals, fauna, and flora, all distorted, imaginary or real. The world of plants and animals suffers the consequences of human activity, and this is exactly what the hybrid plants and mutant insects she imagines are the illustration of. Each detail intrudes into the colored mass and emerges out of the frame as if to surprise the observer who would take a closer look. The painting reveals a second life, so to say. Taking a look inside of Celhubs work , one must take a step back , look within and go deep beyond what the naked eyes can see . It is then you will get carried away by the surprising abstract in which the characters reflect the whimsical universe. This artist paints in a colorful and graphic style. A simplified style, inspired by comics, science fiction, children’s drawings, popular culture and rock music. A joyful vitality emerges from her canvases. The recurring female character is a universal heroine, a kind of forgotten icon in the middle of this noisy and tumultuous world.
